Florida Tutoring Advantage professional learning courses provide administrators and tutors with knowledge and skills designed to build tutoring knowledge and enhance the effectiveness of tutoring programs. With content focused on K-5 tutoring in reading and mathematics, participants will build a foundation of effective tutoring practices to improve student outcomes.

Tutoring Fundamentals

A professional learning course that provides an overview of the basics of tutoring. The learning objective is to ensure that all learners can demonstrate a base knowledge of the tutoring fundamentals.

Building an Effective Tutoring Program

A professional learning course that provides school and district leaders with information on how to build and implement an effective high-impact tutoring program that will qualify for the state program, the Florida Tutoring Advantage. The course objectives ensure that learners can demonstrate basic knowledge to build and implement a district wide high-impact tutoring program.

Advanced Tutoring in Mathematics

A professional learning course that provides an overview of math literacy and proficiency. The course will allow tutors to develop a deeper understanding of mathematical knowledge for teaching key concepts. Participants will learn how to implement the use of multiple strategies and problem solving approaches, facilitate productive mathematical discourse, and employ strategic questioning techniques that promote student engagement and mathematical thinking.

Advanced Tutoring in Reading

A professional learning course that provides an overview of the Science of Reading, reading assessments, and principles of effective literacy instruction in alignment with high-impact tutoring practices. The course objectives ensure that learners can demonstrate basic knowledge to provide high-impact tutoring in reading that meets the specific needs of students across multiple learning contexts.

Who is eligible?

Preference will be given to Florida K-12 public and public charter personnel with a state appointed email address.
